"The Living Bridge" is an infrastructure solution that addresses the pressing issue of rising sea levels in Miami. Spanning 3 miles across mainland Miami, Dodge Island, and Virginia Key, the bridge will serve as a vital connection point for key locations in the city, including the intercoastal waterway, providing a solution to the growing need for trade and tourism. As a consequence of climate change and the rising sea levels, Miami will be underwater by the year 2100 leaving the city in desperate need of relief. The bridge will be divided into two sections, one for residential use and the other for services and goods, connected by a central spine containing public spaces. The bridge's construction is based on the natural stress concept, similar to the structure of a dragonfly's wing, and will include tunnels for the transportation of goods and hyperloop pods. Dodge Island, the site of the proposed bridge, serves as a critical hub for transportation and trade in Miami, connecting the city to the rest of Florida, the Caribbean, and the world through various modes of transportation such as internal city railways, national cargo railways, interstates, and the intercoastal waterway. The bridge will take into account these existing transportation connections and further enhance the island's role as a hub for trade and commerce, solidifying Miami's position as a well-connected and influential economy in the world. It will serve as a symbol of Miami's resilience and innovation, solidifying its place as a leading global city.
